MasqueradeColored masks danced over the colored tile of the ballroom floor. Rich fabrics of countless colors moved with the masks as if they were connected by some invisible thread of a puppeteer. A diamond and gold chandelier hung from center of the dome painted with images of nymphs and satyrs drinking from golden goblets, dancing and laughing in an almost mirror image of the masks below. Music came from a hidden place, creating a space of ecstasy for each and every mask to throw away anything that was on their mind and to fill their head with nothing but music and pleasure. A lone figure in coal and blood attire looked on from the balcony as the masks moved with the music. He did not wear a mask like the others. Instead his hood was pulled over his face, shrouding it in darkness. A better disguise than anything they could ever think of, he thought. He walked down the golden steps and into the sea of painted faces. At times a stray f
The Unforgettable Circus A small town is where we begin our story. It's not on a map, if you're wondering. Believe me, I've checked. Now you may be wondering what's so special about this particular small town and I'll tell you, but before I do, there's something you need to know: not everything is as it's seems. The Cowboy in the Ballroom "No...no...definitely not that one...no...not a chance. C'mon, isn't there anything in here that will work?" With clothes strewn all over her room and a violet colored piece of fabric on her head, a dark-haired young girl of eighteen groans in irritation at the few articles of clothing she hasn't looked through yet, her inspiration draining with each outfit she tossed. While dressing up for a party on Halloween night may seem like fun to most teenagers, for Sarah Williams it brought back a few too many memories that, after three years, she had expected to fade away until she was absolutely certain it was all a dream. It didn't help matters that Toby had dreams of his own, most of them involving a certain place and a certain person that he loved to tell her about, and the party she was going to was a masquerade. Still, since Toby was going to be trick-or-treating with D
